Common questions

What people ask us before they start

What is the product? Are the donuts already made?
Malasadas: Hawaii's donut. Soft, holeless, rolled in sugar, filled fresh. You make them yourself from our recipe and system, so they're fresh and the cost stays low. About 150 to 200 in an hour and a half once you know the system.
Do I need a storefront, a food truck, or a commercial kitchen?
No. Wiki-Licious is a home-based model. You make the malasadas in your own kitchen under your state's cottage food rules. Where a home kitchen isn't allowed, you use a shared commissary kitchen or partner with a licensed food business. We help you set up the right way for where you live.
What equipment do I need?
Three things: a good home kitchen mixer, electric fry pans, and the custom cutter we send you. Plus our mix from an approved supplier and our branded boxes. That's it.
How much does it cost?
It's a low-cost franchise: a one-time license, your basic equipment, and a small monthly fee. We go over the exact numbers on a quick call and in the franchise disclosure document, so you see everything before you decide.
Is my area still open?
Territories are one per area. Tell us your city and we'll check. If it's open, we'll build your territory map.
I already sell food at events. Does this fit?
Yes. Most of our franchisees started that way. Malasadas run right alongside what you already sell, and they add year-round income from pre-orders, fundraisers, wholesale, and from-home pickup, so you're not stuck waiting for the next event or the weather.
What happens on the call?
A relaxed 20-minute Zoom (or phone call) with Mary. No pressure. She walks you through how it works, checks your area, and answers anything you want to ask.
This is not an offer to sell a franchise. A franchise is offered only through our Franchise Disclosure Document.
